PRESIDENT TINUBU MEETS NIPCO EXECUTIVES, COMMENDS INVESTMENTS IN THE CNG SECTOR
STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE

President Bola Tinubu thanked NIPCO for investing in Nigeria’s Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) sector during a meeting with the company’s executives at the State House in Abuja.
The President commended NIPCO’s contributions to the nation’s energy transition efforts, particularly its support for the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI).
During the meeting, President Tinubu acknowledged NIPCO’s role as a critical player in enhancing the adoption of CNG as an alternative fuel, noting that such investments align with his administration’s energy security and economic diversification strategy.
He emphasised the importance of public-private partnerships in driving the transition to cleaner
and more affordable energy solutions for Nigerians.
The President lauded NIPCO’s efforts in promoting and supporting the “Switch to CNG” campaign, which has been instrumental in boosting public awareness and providing affordable CNG conversion kits even before the official kickoff of the Presidential CNG Initiative.
He highlighted the significance of this initiative in reducing the nation’s reliance on petrol and cutting down fuel costs for consumers.
CNG, being a cleaner and more affordable fuel, reduces the carbon footprint and saves consumers significant fuel costs.
“Nigeria’s motorists can buy petrol at N1,000 per litre or equivalent gas per Standard Cubic Meter at N200. We have also introduced incentives for commercial motorists to convert from petrol to gas” free of cost,” President Tinubu said.
President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing a conducive environment for private sector investments and expanding Nigeria’s CNG infrastructure to enhance energy efficiency and economic growth.
He further encouraged NIPCO to continue its innovative approach to CNG expansion while supporting the government’s broader goals in the energy sector.
Mr Ramesh Kasangra, NIPCO director, who led the delegation, thanked President Tinubu for his steadfast support of the CNG sector.
He expressed NIPCO’s commitment to furthering the partnership with the government to ensure Nigeria’s energy transition remains on track.
He assured the president that the company was ready to invest in infrastructure to make CNG more accessible nationwide.
According to him, NIPCO has been a key player in various sectors of Nigeria for over four decades and will continue to believe in Nigeria for the long term.

It is even more worrying that T-pain is undisturbed by the hardship in the country – Atiku Abubakar
The haphazard and disingenuous approach of the current administration to fuel subsidy management has been the reason we are in this current economic crisis in the country. As things stand, there will be no let up in the escalating inflation rate, which is drowning the material well-being of Nigerians.

Greenville LNG Makes History: Fuels Nigerian Railway Corporation’s Abuja-Kaduna Train’s Locomotive Engines and Ekeson Transport’s LNG-powered luxury Buses with LNG in Lagos and Abuja.
Greenville LNG Makes History: Fuels Nigerian Railway Corporation’s Abuja-Kaduna Train’s Locomotive Engines and Ekeson Transport’s LNG-powered luxury Buses with LNG in Lagos and Abuja.
…as Host Community leaders and Senior Law Enforcement Officers pay courtesy visit to Greenville LNG’s Gas Plant in Rumuji Rivers State
At different pioneering and exciting energy transition events in the Nigerian transportation sector, Greenville LNG, Nigeria’s flagship Domestic Gas Infrastructure development and gas distribution company, commenced the fuelling of Nigerian Railway Corporation’s Abuja-Kaduna Trains retrofitted locomotive engines with LNG. Greenville LNG also commenced fuelling of Ekeson transport’s Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)-powered luxury buses in Lagos.
Greenville LNG was at the Idu Abuja Railway Station to, for the second time, fuel for a test drive of the newly retrofitted LNG-powered trains. This initiative is part of NRC’s ongoing energy transition to LNG, with the locomotives retrofitted with LNG kits by De-Sadel Consortium.
During the first locomotive engine fueling with LNG by Greenville LNG at the Idu Abuja Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) Station, Greenville LNG Company Limited was represented by its General Manager of LNG-CNG Retailing, Gokul Moothedathu, Head of Commercial Amit Singh, amongst others. There were also several senior NRC officials on ground during the historic event in Idu Abuja FCT. The second LNG fueling of the NRC locomotives event saw the attendance of notable stakeholders and invited guests. Both test drives were successfully conducted with passengers on board. The partnership between Greenville LNG and NRC focuses on the supply of LNG for the retrofitted trains. The LNG-powered test drives of the NRC trains included successful stops at both Kubwa Abuja FCT and in Kaduna State, demonstrating the effectiveness of the transition of NRC’s train-powering energy source to LNG.
The initiative represents a significant advancement in Nigeria’s efforts to embrace and promote sustainable energy solutions and significantly reduce environmental pollution as well as operational costs. In a post-event interview, Mr. Samuel Uko emphasized that this conversion aligns with Nigeria’s Gas Initiative Vision, with the potential to reduce operational costs by about 70%. This project signifies the beginning of a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership between Greenville LNG and the NRC, and targets to reshape the future of railway transportation in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Ekeson Transport’s LNG buses were fuelled with LNG at the company’s station located in Lagos. Greenville LNG was represented by the company’s Zonal Manager Retail South, Shantanu Mishra and Engr Chijioke, Managing Director of Ekeson Transport was also present during the fueling.
It would be recalled that it was earlier reported in March this year that “the Federal Government, through the Minister of Transportation, Said Alkali, has initiated a move to transition Nigerian Railway Corporation locomotives from diesel to liquefied natural gas and compressed natural gas in a bid to steer the corporation towards sustainable energy sources and reduce operational costs.” The Honourable Minister had reiterated the desire of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to provide Nigerians with efficient, affordable, and sustainable transportation given the strategically necessary removal of subsidy on fuel by the Government.
Earlier in March this year, a team of technical experts presented a proposal for joint deliberation by the Ministry of Transportation and the NRC at the Ministry’s headquarters with a view to retrofitting NRC’s locomotives with LNG-CNG technology. The Honourable Minister of Transportation had expressed optimism that the transition to LNG-CNG alternative could produce more effective, efficient, and logically cheaper rail services for Nigerians. “It is the desire of our President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to provide an efficient, affordable, and sustainable transportation system for the people of this great country and I am sure this would go a long way in bringing down the cost of transportation,” Transportation Minister Alkali reportedly said. The Ministerial Committee eventually set up on the feasibility of LNG power option for the rail locomotive engines, confirmed the technical viability of retrofitting NRC’s locomotives with LNG-CNG technology. Key findings of the Ministerial Committee included that the use of LNG would lead to better cost efficiency as well as enhanced and extended locomotive engine lifespan.
It was therefore a historic moment for Greenville LNG Co. Ltd and, indeed, for Nigeria when the company fueled the Nigerian Railway Corporation locomotive engines for the first and subsequent times in the operational history of the corporation for momentous test drives on the Abuja-Kaduna Rail line, recently. In the words of the General Manager, LNG-CNG Retailing of the company, Gokul Moothedathu, “Greenville LNG as with best global practice, is in business to proactively operate for a most efficient, effective, and affordable energy renaissance, and for a great transition to a cleaner, more ecofriendly future that guarantees a healthy and sustainable environment for generations to come in Nigeria.”
In another positive development, senior operational security and law enforcement officers have paid a familiarisation visit on the Greenville LNG Gas Plant in Rumuji. All the Divisional Police officers of Emohua, Rumuji, and Ahoada accompanied the Area Commander, ACP Cecy Brown on the familiarization visit. During the visit, led by the Area Commander, Ahoada, Rivers State Command of the Nigerian Police Force, the need for peaceful cooperation between the company and its stakeholders and communities was mutually emphasised. Greenville LNG’s Director of Community and Administrative Affairs, Mr Joseph Oyadoyin and the company’s Group Head, Security, Mr Yusuf Zaiyana were on hand in Rumuji Rivers State to receive the visitors at the Greenville LNG Gas Plant.
LAGOS-OWNED EPE GENERAL HOSPITAL UPGRADES TO FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE IN NEW MOU
PRESS RELEASE

• Sanwo-Olu, Health Minister sign agreement at Lagos Trauma Conference
• New Nursing school, College of Alternative Medicine to open in Epe
The Lagos State General Hospital in Epe has been transferred to the Federal Government for conversion and full upgrading to — a tertiary health facility. The hospital is now to be known as Federal Medical Centre, Epe.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) facilitating the new status of the hospital was, on Thursday, signed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tunji Alausa, during the maiden Lagos Trauma Conference organised by the State’s Ministry of Health.
The event with the theme: “Enhancing Trauma Care and Emergency Healthcare Systems for a Thriving Lagos”, was held at Landmark Event Centre, Oniru, Victoria Island.
The hospital’s upgrade followed a request by the Governor to the Federal Government to establish an advanced health care infrastructure within Epe Division of the State in order to cater for the expanding population within the axis and adjoining communities.
The development will further enhance access to specialised care services on the axis, while improving on the collective health care capacity provided by the national and sub national governments in the State.
In addition to upgrading the General Hospital, the MoU also provides for the establishment of the School of Nursing at the FMC for the training of Nurses and Midwives. The first set of students are expected to be admitted next year.
Within the first two years of the FMC’s take-off, specialised care services to be integrated into the hospital’s services include Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Open Heart Surgery Unit, Cardiac Catheterisation, Advanced Obstetric and Gynaecological services for high risk pregnancies and gynaecology cases, Emergency and Trauma Centre, nephrology services including dialysis and kidney transplant, radiological services, orthopaedic care, Burns and Plastic Services.
Sanwo-Olu described the stride as a game changer that would shape the future of health delivery in Lagos, noting that the development further demonstrated the power of healthy collaboration between state and federal governments.
He said: “The upgrading of Epe General Hospital marks a new step forward in our tireless efforts to expand access to quality healthcare for our residents. The conversion of the hospital to a Federal Medical Centre is a game changer that will shape the future of healthcare delivery in Lagos.
“This development aligns with the current conversation we are having today, especially with the theme of this conference that is aimed at enhancing trauma care and attending to emergencies for a thriving Lagos. This is part of our mission to ensure Lagos continues to be a safe and thriving city that is worth living in.”
Besides, the new collaboration between Lagos and the Federal Government provides for the establishment of Federal College of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (FEDCAM) — a new specialised training institution in Ilara Igboye, Epe Division.
The college will offer specialised programmes that include Acupuncture, Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Chiropractic Medicine, Osteopathy and Herbal Medicine.
Dr. Alausa said the establishment of nursing school and FEDCAM would offer young people opportunities to undertake the programmes and become professionals in medical disciplines and fields of complementary and alternative medicine.
The Minister said: “The establishment of this Federal Medical Centre in Epe is poised to bring not only improved health outcomes but also numerous socio- economic benefits to the area. It will stimulate local businesses, create employment opportunities for our people, and attract a wide range of healthcare professionals to Epe, thereby enriching the local economy and enhancing the well-being of the residents.
“This development is in line with the goal envisioned in the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, which is focused on improving the lives of Nigerians across all sectors. Epe is a strategic location, given its expanding population, which made this decision imperative. Our people deserve access to quality healthcare; I am proud to say that today, we are making great strides toward ensuring that they receive it.”
Speaking on the theme of the conference, Sanwo-Olu said the trauma care system in Lagos must keep pace with the State’s rapid population growth and physical development in order to ensure effective management of day-to-day medical emergencies and large-scale crises.
He said the State Government would be expanding its trauma centers to improve level of preparedness and reduce turnaround time in responding to trauma.
The Governor said: “While we have made significant strides in healthcare delivery in Lagos, there is still a considerable gap between the demand for trauma services and our current capacity to provide them. It is essential that we address this need with a clear understanding of the areas that require improvement and a strategic vision for the future.
“One of the key pillars of our strategy to improve emergency healthcare services in Lagos is investment in healthcare infrastructure. We are fully aware that a robust and well-equipped healthcare system is the backbone of effective trauma care. Infrastructural development is only one part of the equation. We must also focus on the people who deliver healthcare – the skilled professionals who are on the frontlines of trauma care.”
