EBIRERI HENRY OVIE: SON OF A SAPELE BUSINESS MAN AND OKPARA WATER-SIDE WOMAN

Born in Eku, Delta State and raised by his grandmother in Sapele, Ebireri is considered one of the most important Nigerian journalists.

He earned his undergraduate degree in political science and education from the University of Port Harcourt and has a master’s degree from University of Lagos in political science. He has a postgraduate diploma in journalism and diploma in   English from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism and the University of Lagos.

In Abuja, the nation’s federal capital, the honest Nigerian writer gained the knowledge that enabled him to build a successful career in journalism.

He began his reporting career in Lagos as a television announcer and producer.

He worked as political reporter, correspondent, political editor, group news editor and deputy daily editor in some Nigerian newspapers.

Ebireri taught at various times in Port Harcourt, Abuja and Lagos.

He also worked as a senior special assistant, media to a former Lagos State deputy governor and chief press secretary to a speaker in Delta State.

The former New Age, National Mirror, Business Hallmark and News Star editor is currently the director of communications and political matters of MediaGate Management and Consulting Limited.
